Frequently asked questions
What GPA scale does this use?
The standard 4.0 unweighted scale: A=4.0, A-=3.7, B+=3.3, B=3.0, B-=2.7, C+=2.3, C=2.0, C-=1.7, D+=1.3, D=1.0, D-=0.7, F=0.0. This does not account for weighted (honors/AP) GPA calculations.
How is GPA calculated?
Each grade is converted to its point value and multiplied by the course's credit hours. The total quality points are divided by the total credit hours. For example, an A (4.0) in a 3-credit course contributes 12 quality points.
Can I use decimal credit hours?
Yes — you can enter partial credit hours (e.g., 1.5 for a lab course). The calculator handles fractional credits correctly.
